Meet Mike Parker, Butler Hyundai Service Advisor

Mike ParkerYou may recognize Mike Parker. While he now calls the service desk at Butler Hyundai home, he’s worked retail in the Rogue Valley for many years and even put his advertising skills to use on camera. It all started when the Berkeley, California-born Mike graduated from the University of San Francisco. A degree in Human Relations and Business Management landed him at Chevron working in international oil tanker operations. Then Mike moved to Medford and into electronics. You may have seen him in television ads for Sheckell’s during the early ‘90s. He’s also done marketing and sales for Pro Wireless, Medford Cellular, and a handful of Southern Oregon radio stations. The shops may have changed but each location provided Mike with the opportunity to do what he loves best. “I get a super thrill out of giving to and helping people”, he says.

Another constant in Mike’s life is his love of cars. Over the years he says he’s purchased 15 vehicles, including performance cars, from Butler Automotive Group. He must have passed on those genes because his son now works in automotive IT in Roseburg. Two step-daughters round out the family. And when there’s time to spare you’ll find Mike on the golf course or traveling, especially if a stop on the Big Island of Hawaii is on the itinerary.

Aside from the fact that Butler Auto has a full-service collision center and body shop, our rental department may just be one of the best kept secrets around.  In fact, you may have even walked by it without even noticing.  That’s because Rich Parker, who you may recognize from his many years working at Medford’s Quality Market, runs Butler’s Super Saver Rent-a-Car from the Butler Ford and Acura service area at our Ashland location.  It’s not plastered with signs or advertising materials.  It’s just a granite counter with a friendly face behind it.

But it’s worth stopping by to say hi because Rich considers all his customers to be friends.  In fact, he says, “We just want you to smile when you return.”  In order to achieve that goal he offers a large variety of rental vehicles – from cars to vans, special prices when your vehicle’s in for service, even custom vacation packages.  And if you happen to be driving to Disneyland Rich, who’s been there more than 70 times, will be happy to offer planning tips.

If you’ve never attended one of our Open Houses you’re in for a treat. It’ll be a casual event. There will be food, usually a light dinner of sandwiches, salads, chips and cookies. There will be good conversation – especially if you’ve come prepared with questions about your vehicle, its technology, warranty, service requirements, etc. And there will be laughter – our entire Butler Kia staff, from sales and finance to service – will be on hand to arm you with information and show you around, and even take you under a car, if you’re interested!
